All about the work. I specialize in designing and producing limited-edition fine press books, artist books, boxes and paste papers.

The individually crafted bindings that I make are rooted in the traditions of bookmaking and further inspired by modern materials and innovations. Design elements for each commission are realized in collaboration with the artists, writers, printers, and publisher behind the work. With artful design, the reader experiences sensations in handling the binding or case that quietly support the ideas and images held within.

All about Lisa Van Pelt. I was a student of architecture at Hampshire College, from which I received a BFA. I then trained as a hand bookbinder with Claudia Cohen, in addition to working in collaboration with Mark Tomlinson.

I now work in my bindery, located in the middle of an apple orchard in Northern California.
